HDR Photography with a Canon Rebel XTi + Inspiration

HDR (high dynamic range imaging) is a set of techniques that allow you to capture a greater dynamic range of luminance between the lightest and darkest areas of an image than standard digital imaging techniques or photographic methods.
I have always been fascinated with HDR photography and often wondered how the effect was achieved. After seeing some amazing shots recently I decided to get on Google and search out an answer. Little did I know that my Canon manual had an entire page explaining exactly how to adjust the exposure settings to create an HDR image! And to think that all this time it has just been sitting on a shelf collecting dust.
Below are my first two HDR images taken with a Canon Rebel XTi with a Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II Lens.
